Follow Artemous Le Mouse as he climbs inside the world's art masterpieces and restores paintings by Degas, Seurat, Van Gogh and other famous artists.

Artemous not only restores these works of art, he interacts with them - playing with Cassatt’s children at the beach, dancing with Degas’ ballerinas or playing clarinet in Picasso’s jazz ensemble.

Enjoy his mischievous antics as he introduces children of all ages to great art.

Follow a typical week in the life of this talented mouse as he undergoes a series of adventures and misadventures, including a troublesome cat (in Helen Hyde’s woodcut), a bird who refuses to stay put (in Monet’s “The Magpie”), and a case of mistaken identity that almost costs him his job!

Writer’s Note
Our intent in creating Artemous was to introduce young children to a variety of famous artworks and painting styles while providing a whimsical tour guide in the form of an artistic mouse.
Debbie’s illustrations are done in oil and she has stayed true to the original artwork so that children might recognize and become excited about spotting some of those pieces in museums or art books in the future.

Age appropriate for...
All humans, from early readers to grandparents reading to grandchildren.

Testimonials

"The fact that there are actual paintings in this story, along with the humorous details placed by "Mouse", was great. I loved the details in the pictures--plenty of room for discussion with the children as they search the pictures to see what belongs & what doesn't (ie the mouse hole, sand spilling out, etc...) Great literacy & art story!"
